FEFCO codes are the international shorthand for corrugated box styles. Use this guide to identify the right construction for your products and specifications.
What is the FEFCO code?
A common language for box styles.
The FEFCO code was developed by FEFCO, the European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers, and adopted internationally. It gives each corrugated construction a four-digit reference, so a buyer, designer and manufacturer anywhere mean exactly the same style.
The first two digits identify the series: the broad family of construction. The last two identify the specific style within that series. FEFCO 0201, for example, is the regular slotted container in the 02 slotted-type series.
A FEFCO code describes the shape, not the full specification. Board grade, flute, internal dimensions, print and tolerances still need to be specified separately.

The styles buyers specify most.
Common FEFCO constructions across slotted, telescopic, folder-type, slide and ready-glued boxes. Filter by series.
Slotted Boxes
0201The classic regular case and certainly the most common of all the FEFCO styles. Requires taping top and bottom to close.
Slotted Boxes
0203Similar to the 0201 but with fully extended flaps to give extra protection top and bottom. Uses more material than a 0201 and again requires taping top and bottom.
Telescopic Boxes
0300Basic lid and tray that does not usually require any tooling to produce. When made up it does require sealing in each corner. Corners are often stitched together, especially for large format designs.

0306Combination of the 0200 slotted container with a lid to secure large, bulky goods.
Folder Type Boxes & Trays
0401Classic die-cut postal wallet. A basic folder that wraps around the product and is then taped or glued closed.

0409Often referred to as a 5-panel wrap. Suitable for products that are long and narrow. Does not usually require any tooling and gives plenty of protection to the product, especially at the ends.

0422Common die-cut tray. Self-locking double fold-over sides (fold-over width panels). Easy to assemble.

0426Die-cut carton that does not require any additional sealing. Supplied flat, with integrated locks and tabs for self-assembly.

0427Die-cut tray that does not require any additional sealing. Strong in compression due to the overlapping sides. Lid locks in firmly but can easily be opened.

0452Simple, economic wrap style to provide basic protection for palletised goods. Placed underneath goods on the pallet to form the base of a protective pallet wrap. Supplied flat; use glue or tape to seal at time of use.
